Tilt Steering?
Has anyone here installed a 73 up tilt column in a 70-72 truck. Will it work?

It can be done, but not worth it.
you'll need to; rewire the ignition switch rewire the high beam switch rewire the wiper switch cut the lower dash portion for room since the cvolumn is fatter same with the lower inst panel No idea if they are long enough. It can be done, but no reason to do it. We generally look for 72 - early 82 GM vans with tilts. they are 99% identicle, and are very close to a direct bolt in. I took a tilt column, out of a 1976ish chevy van it fit really well and was the same width. i was able to use the stock hardware and mounts from the stock column. but yes will have to re wire.

No need to rewire a GM van column, go to the dealer and ask for p/n 1894851. it's an adapter and should be less than 10 bucks.

So that adpater will adapt the column ignition switch harness to the stock under dash harness? What do you do for a shift indicator?

The adaptor is for non-ignition switch columns.For all the effort,installing a 73-up column will gain a bit of extra security by givivg you locked steering.The pre-81s had dash mount headlight switch and floor mount dimmer.It`s up to you.

I have a van tilt with the ignition switch but it is starting to look like a lot of rewiring. If I'm going to go that far I also have a 1974 Corvette tilt/telescopic that I might as well use and put in a Lokar floor shift. Or I could put a cool steering wheel on th estock column and call it good enough.
