New Blazer Member w/pics - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just posted for the first time in the Welcome section. Since I will be posting in the Blazer section only, I want to indroduce myself again.

Don't worry boys and girls I may be new to this forum but I understand that photos are needed to make it more fun. I am going to try and post photos here the way I do on my fishing forum. Hopefully it works.

My name is Rob and I live in La Mesa, Ca. This is a border city to San Diego, Ca. I'm 28 years old and own a 1972 CST Blazer. This is my second Blazer. My first was a 1970. I loved my paint job so much on my 70' that I put it on my newly purchased 72'. The color is "light autumn wood metalic." It's a GM color that was very popular on Astro Vans. Some time around 1998 or so full size trucks started sporting more champagne and brown metalic paint jobs. Now I see this color everywhere. The 70' sold to a guy in Vista, Ca. This is a north county location of San Diego County. So if you have seen a lifted version with this paint in Southern Ca...it was probably mine.

Wish I never sold it too.

This 72' has no rust to speak of and is equipped with A/C and tilt wheel. The seats appear to be original and in need of only a good cleaning. The center console looks like it has been painted over. I'm not too sure because my last blazer had after market buckets with no console. So I don't know exactly what this one should look like. The top is about an 8 out of 10. It is cracking slightly along the bonding joints. The only thing that is not stock is the wheel tire combo. They are 33's on a stock lift and fit fine. I will be lifting this sucker in due time. The engine is a rebuilt 350 that appears to be stock. I'm sure the old owner assembled the externals himself. The valve covers leak and so does the tranny. For only having 30k on the motor there is oil everywhere.

Oh yeah, the seller was a canoe guy and mounted this totally lame rack on top. That is getting fixed soon along with the entire top.

The future holds many things for this Blazer and I. What's first on the list??? I'm not sure. But you know the saying "chrome doesn't get you home" so I will focus on the Oil and Tranny leak and probably buy some cheap shocks to get me buy until I do the lift. Winter is coming and adressing the seals in the top and doors is always a wise investement.

I would love some feedback from fellow Blazer and Jimmy owners as to what they think.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest. That's a nice looking rig. I like the color too. Your front seats look like Highlander seats. Are they original?

Pretty sure they are. The truck was originally orange and I think this was one of the colors they used for that exterior. Are those considered good seats. Having a CST is new to me. My 70' was bare bones until I got a hold of it.

Who do you guys buy replacement parts from. I was very unhappy with the quality of the chrome and black trim moldings I purchased. You know what's funny...when I had my 70' and I needed a new grill and seals...they came wrapped in GM plastic. Must have been original stuff. This was in 1994-1997. I think the catalog was Jimmy Z's???

I have considered puting a 69-70 grill on this Blazer. I think they have more class.

Very nice rig. Do the backseat and front seats match? To me it looks like the backseat is black. In which case either the front or back seats are not original. The console definately looks painted, maybe it was black and the PO painted it to match the front seats. Very nice start with the single wall top and rollbar etc.

That blue fits these Blazer/Jimmys so well. I'm not too worried about the all original thing. I do however like to make sure I keep a traditional look. I definately like the plaid look.

Welcome from MN. That is a Great find!

In your part of the country, I'd lose the top altogether. (easy for me to say, right?)

Your glovebox option sheet should provide some clues as to the original seat colors (Parchment or black)...if you care.

Nice blazer. We lived in Mira Mesa north of SD from '85 to '89 moved to Middletown Ca. lived there '90&'91, relocated to Durham NC. It was quite a culture shook. Housing is a lot less expensive here. I don't know how any one can afford housing in SD now. Prices have tripled since we left. Welcome to the board, and have fun working on your Blazer.

Middletown is near Clear Lake. I am very familiar with that town. I grew up in Fairfield, Ca. I hear N.C. is an excellent place to live. I am lucky...I bought my first place here in the late 90's when things were real flat. First timers have it real bad though.
