This doesn't seem right to me - I can see a nice little fireworks show through two of my spark plugs - # 5 and 7. Is this a problem with the plug?

Are the plugs champion? I've seen this before. We took em out and replaced with autolites. Problem solved

bad plugs or bad wires will do this. i would change all the plugs and put a good set of performance wires on.

i have seen the same thing but we used differant plugs back in there

It is a bad plug. Either the spark is travelling over the surface of the porcelin on grease/dirt, or pehaps the porcelin has a crack in it. Either way plug replacement is the fix.

Y'know. If you take a real good quality peice of porceline,, Bone china for example and hold it up to the light it is slightly translucent. what this has to do with spark plug technology I have no idea. But I saw it on the "antiques roadshow" program and thought I'd share it with the class.

I know if you have a bucket full of old sparkplugs and you take a Champion and ANY other plug,hold them at the base and strike the two together on the porcelin the Champion will ALWAYS break.

Champion Plugs are the last chioce IMO. I've been running NGK's in my street vehicals and all my race bikes... I've never had one bad plug in 30 + years.

Spark plugs and wires are cheap considering that your performance will probably be better after the fix...

Just my $.02

Thanks - these are the Delco plugs that came with the crate motor.
