Camper Wiring
What is included with the "Camper Wiring" option? It's listed on my truck, but I see no evidence of additional wiring over and above the normal rear light harness.

The camper wiring is a separate harness that plugs in between the firewall end of your tailight wiring and the wireing from under the dash. It has a separate red #10 wire that is in the harness but it routes across the saddle and terminates at the connector block on the passenger fender. In addition to the red positive wire there is a white #10 ground wire that is grounded to the outside firewall above the engine. The harness is routed along the frame with separate wire retainers to behind the cab and up into the front part of the truck bed. It is long enough to connect inside the camper but I don't know how that was accomplished.

Hmmmm; I don't think there's a trace of any of that left. What, exactly, did it do, anyway? Which frame rail did it travel down, and does anyone have a pic of the connectors?
Does anyone have a harness they'd be willing to part with?

The camper wiring supplied the camper with 12 volt power for lighting, parking light circuit for the parking lights, brake and turnsignal circuit, and backup light circuit. (Every circuit that goes to the tailights, etc. plus the 12 volt circuit and ground). It is a
convenient way to wire in a camper. If you are unable to get one from the parts board, let me know and I will check my local yard. Jim |

i have this camper wiring as well, it consists of a plug/terminal that can be unpluged between the cab and the bed along the drivers side frame rail. The plug looks just like a trailer wiring plug, the older round 12 pin type. It is designed to plug into a receptacle on the camper shell when one is on, and when empty, the plug goes back to the tail light wiring as any other truck. The only place to see any difference is if you look at the drivers side frame rail, under the front part of the bed.

Just an FYI, I got the new catalog from Pickups Northwest and they have the camper wiring harness listed. I don't remember the price and the catalog is at home right now. I haven't ever seen it listed anyplace else before but I did notice it last night while dreaming about all the new toys for my truck.

I have one, but it's only 1/2 there. All hacked up and stuff. I think there is some add on on mine too. and a huge cable for ground.

Yup, that's it, if you now imagine that along the inside of the framerail, plugged into a female receptacle, you know what to look for anyway.
