siezed 350
ok this sucks, i get myself into the most retarded messes, i swear,...
i got a 72 chevy truck 350 in a 82 fbird and was installed and has been sitting dry since at least last fall or so and its siezed, supposedly bottom end is new, and are receipts for pistons and rings and crank turning, etc, but heads are used takeoffs from an early 80's engine according to casting code on them,,.. i sprayed penetrating oil in cylinders all except number 8 cuz cant get the plug out due to the damned headers that are on it(are new and are for sale to help out my aunt) and i stil cant get crank to budge ideas ? new tricks ? i dont wanna bust the rings or piston ring landings on the skirts, who has done what in the past ? if i have to pull engine then i will just stick other 4 bolt 350 in it, its not frozen,. at least wasnt a couple months back anyways i get myself into the dumbest situations, i feel like just building a privacy type fenced in area out here and shoving vehicles in it to store until later in life when i have time and resources to screw with this crap, cuz I do not have that right now, i am wasting life.. but i cannot get rid of this car, its sentimental to my aunt and grandmam and could be a neat car with a little work, so i dunno,,, right now is a bad bad time for all this,.. but we need all the vehicles runnign we can get, so... only have one no,w and need more. thanks ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL r68c30@hotmail.com -71 C-10 350/CH465/3.07 -84 Z28 Camaro 5.0L 700R4, 3.73 -84 Firebird SE 2.8L T-5 -82 Firebird 350 4bolt (TBL)/TH350 buy/sell/hoard/trade most any GM vehicle parts of any kind -parting out: '81 Cutlass Supreme Brougham *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited April 18, 2002).] |

Had a similar problem..... Try dropping the oil pan to check the pump ot check the timing chain.... Will the distributer rotate in the block, as if to advance the timing....
Lastly, I just took the engine apart, just to see.... Mine had set up for 4 years.... I tried that tranny fluid, kerosene stuff too ------------------ 71 GMC Stepside 250/350 Turbo better known as "Fred Sanford 77 240 Mercedes Benz 92 300E Mercedes Benz 85 600 Ninja 71 Chevelle

Fill the pistons with brake fluid, and let it sit for a few days. That'll free it up.
Done it on 7 junk yard motors that ran when they were pulled in. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. thanks guys!, brake fluid, hmm, cool, anything is worth a shot at this point in time,
car was in Casper WY, very cold there and alot, but radiator was never hooked up, engine was set in car and never hooked up, so never was ran after bottom end was built and whatever else was done to it. i was told she found someone to try and finish it and make it run and they turned it over last fall, but thats it that i know of. so im probably gonna have to frickin pull it all out of the car and risk having the city say get rid of it because it doesnt run and drive, and my grandma and aunt dont want that to happen because the car is kinda sentimental, but wtf else can i do,....... damn,. i am really getting burnt out again.,,, i wanted ot quit doing this crap couple years ago when vehicles were getting hard to find, at least the sorta decent ones like 67-72 trucks, and 70;s rwd cars, theyre all gone now, only the 80s are left now for the most part. it is not fun to pull drivetrain in gravel,..... sigh,. i dont really want ot do this stuff for a long time anymore not until i at least have concrete or something,.. this is getting very old very fast...again.. already..this is a bad time for me to have to do this kind of crap, done it too many times in the past, it has never gotten me ahead in life, only farther behind and farther in debt and nothing to show for it and im bored with it all.. venting....just ignore me.. im about to go beat up an 82 cutlass supreme with the axe, ilnever be able to get it together, theres no point in aking it run and drive its just another 80s car, so... i need ot let it all out, neighbors are used to it,...ive trashed many many vehicles out here in short order... frickin, %$#@!~ %^$#@!#@$#@$! thanks guys ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL r68c30@hotmail.com -71 C-10 350/CH465/3.07 -84 Z28 Camaro 5.0L 700R4, 3.73 -84 Firebird SE 2.8L T-5 -82 Firebird 350 4bolt (TBL)/TH350 buy/sell/hoard/trade most any GM vehicle parts of any kind -parting out: '81 Cutlass Supreme Brougham *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited April 18, 2002).] [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited April 18, 2002).] |

I got a 454 that had no intake and sat outside for ??? years. Wouldn't budge. Locked tight. Sprayed about 1/2 can of PB Blaster in it and it turned over the next day. That stuff is good.

Do you have cars just sitting around that you can tear them apart when you're mad? Wow.

I never tried the brake fluid, but....
I have unsiezed some very siezed engines, including the following: a 40 chevy 216 that sat from 1962-1997, a 43 willys flat 4 that sat for 5 years, another 216 that sat for 20 years, and a 223 ford flat 6 that actually as it turned out was blown. The thing I have had 100% success with, is a 50/50 mixture of liquid wrench and marvel mystery oil, filled the cylinders and intake untill over full, replace the spark plugs, and wait about 2 weeks, no rings stuck, everything loose and fine. plus, the oil seems a little friendlier than brake fluid, but maybe not, I am not suggesting that method is not better. Good luck whichever way you go. ------------------ jku 70 C30 CST Longhorn 68k10 burb 69 K5 beater 43 willys GPW 40 Chev coupe 67 catalina
