Alternator pulley removal

I need to install my old alternator pulley on a new alternator.

How to I get a pulley off? On?

I know there is a nut, but how do you hold the whole thing from rotating as you torque on or off the nut?

thanks
Mark

Re: Alternator pulley removal

the shaft has an allen socket but I always use my impact and hold the pulley with a rag. Wear gloves so it don't cut your hand. If you have a 15/16ths socket I think that is the nut size. Or you can use the allen wrench and an open end wrench.
