WTB: SB 400 and rear end
Just got back from Iraq and looking for a complete SB 400, would be interested in just the long block as well, within a few hours of Oklahoma City. Also a 3:73 or 4:10 5 lug posi with leafs...Thanks...Larry

How much you looking to spend? I have a built one with vortec heads with intake manifold I was going to use on my '66... but it's just sitting around doing nothing for about 6 weeks now.

Larry, there is a guy in Wichita Falls,Tx with a stock 400 short block, never been torn down, standard bore. He is asking $300 for it and you pick it up. Very nice guy. I just bought the rotating assy from him. His name is Scott Schultz, his number is 940-631-5865 You can tell him that Kirk from San Angelo sent ya.

I may also have a buddy with a later model 10 bolt with fresh posi, new 3.73 gears and new brakes/drums if he still has it, he was asking $500 for it. It's leaf sprung, and I believe it's a bolt in, but don't quote me on that. If interested, email me.

Larry, it was just built about 6 or 7 weeks ago. Bored .020 with dished pistons, stock crank, 5.7 rods, Comp Cams XE274, Vortec heads. Heads are bolted on, but I was planning on taking them off and machining in more lift for this cam. It's all complete with balancer and flexplate (both balanced for the 400) and an Edelbrock RPM intake. I'd sell it for $2k, also have a new TH400 short shaft tranny built to handle this motor and an oversized aluminum driveshaft - probably like $2600 for the entire drivetrain. If that's too steep no worries, my 66 keeps grinning at me knowing what it'll have thrown into it someday.

Hey Larry...Sounds like a good combo. That's pretty much what I have under my 69 GMC. A stout 400 bored .030, Edelbrock RPM heads, airgap manifold, crane gold rockers (1.6) motivated by a solid cam and connected to a posi 3.73 with new Moser axles. 5 on 5's all around compliments of a 78 doner. The only thing I'd do differently is stay away from the solid cam. Sounds good when valve train stays in place...go hydraulic.
Good luck and welcom back!

Re: WTB: SB 400 and rear end
I am picking up a 70 LWB tomorrow with a BB 400, may end up parting it out. It is all there: power steering and A/C with all of the brackets.
