Tires should be replaced. Brakes should be replaced. Lights should be replaced, gas and oil should be replaced. Pretymuch anything else can wait (if yer married)

Irresponsible purchase do not require any logical analysis. You simply reach to the back of your pants, pull out your wallet and spend. If you don't have the money, you grab the credit card. Or, at least that's what I do... :-) or is that :-(

BTW, for the spouse issue... it is easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission. (Grant you, I am rarely forgiven... it's just easier to do.)
