Summit Turbo Mufflers

Has anyone tried the Summit Turbo mufflers? They are small, boast 21 hp increase over a set or soda straws @5600 rpm (JK) and have a deep rich tone. If that means they sound like a set of glass packs I don't want them. But if they sound more like a Dynomax or Flowmaster Delta that would be cool. They are only $14.95 each! I hate anything that sounds like a glass pack and unfortunately both my running trucks have glass packs! Where's my Sawzall?

Re: Summit Turbo Mufflers

I've seen guys with them locally, and I believe them to be Thrush Turbo mufflers. Every Summit part I've ever seen or owned was a reboxed name brand part.

Tex...good point I have noticed that with other generic suppliers as well. Have you heard them? And do they sound like glass packs?

Not to steal your post but which Flowmaster has the best tone without blowing you away and also lets you hear the radio?

Re: Summit Turbo Mufflers

I knew a guy in Tx who ran a set of the summit turbos, they sounded ok for one season when they both blew apart.

Longhorn Man...that timing would be about perfect...LOL! I may consider something a little bit better only because it is kind of a pain to install them. I would like the early 70's Chevelle sound if I can get that out of 327.

Re: Summit Turbo Mufflers

Hey I have a brother who owns shop and builds custom exhaust he showed me a pair of mufflers that look exactly like flowmasters and I had a set put on my wrecker cannot tell the diff between the generics 29 his cost and the flows 79 at Jegs as I have them both on identical setups (trucks) I can say the bang for the buck is the Generic (Pro FLows) made in of course china . I am not a big advocate of buying non american stuff but I didn't have the bux for the flows and I am happy with the sound over the dreaded glasspacks. If you are looking to get mufflers on the cheap see any local exhaust shop and ask them for the pro flow muffler or tell em you want the flowmaster knock offs hope this helps and doesn't offend the be american buy american guys later Mike

Re: Summit Turbo Mufflers

To answer about the flows question, the best for not super loud, but still got a nice tone would be the 50 series. I will probably go with 50 series delta or SUV performance. also whats great about flowmasters is now you can get them in stainless aswell(i think).

Re: Summit Turbo Mufflers

Mike,
Next time you are down I will show you the welded turbos I run on my Blazer. Better sound than the wrapped turbos and long life. They are not pro-flow or whatever those others were referring to.

I run a pair of 2 " Summit welded mufflers for street use and am satisfied with my purchase.
