No spark?

My wife's uncle gave his '71 4X4 to my youngest son. The truck has been parked for over a decade. He couldn't get it to start, so he parked it. The is no spark at the plugs or at the coil wire. I haven't checked to see if there is voltage to the coil yet. Is there any thing else I should look for? Also, when the key is turned to the run posotion I can here a loud click from somewhere in the engine compartment, that I have never heard on any of my other trucks. Any ideas? Thanks for any replies.

Re: No spark?

A fresh set of points gapped correctly might help. The click you hear may be the "anti diesel" solenoid located at the carb. Is this a 6 banger or an 8?

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
