has anyone converted a steel floor to wood?
i am curious as to what method is used to allow for the thicker wood strips to keep the body lines matched up. I am assumming that the cross members are not as tall. does anyone know for sure?

You need crossmembers, front bed panel and tail pan to do it right. OR crossmembers and notched wood on the bottom of each end so it sets level with the tail pan and front panel. after it's installed it looks just like a factory wood bed.

are you refering to the crossmembers on the frame or the box?
Is a frame different for wood bed than steel bed?
If so then when I look for a frame how can you tell the difference between frame that had a steel vs wood floor.

im pretty sure it is the crossmemebers that lay parallel to the axle (the separate ones that go under the wood but above the frame) that are different. i could be wrong, but i am like almost positive that the frames dont change.

I think they are the same. I think the only difference is the front panel, and the back cross sill. I haven't seen different ones based on steel or wood floors for the cross sills under the bed, just the front and the back. As far as the frame, the only difference might be a heat shield over the muffler to keep the heat from the wood, but that I think mounts on the cross sills and not the frame.
