Engine has fallen in love with Second gear
My truck seems to be fairly stuck in second gear when traveling normal city speeds (35-50 mph). It runs somewhat high in engine speed around 45. It's an '85 700 R4. It'll dislodge from 2nd if I really blast it though...however that's quite dangerous...
My dad found a thingie...that's all it is to us right now. It looks like it used to have vacuum lines, and looks like it connects to the transmission. It looks important. Here happens to be a picture. Imagine that. EDIT: Forgot to mention, we do have a theory it's some sort of downshift device. Last edited by SlapFish; 10-23-2005 at 09:21 PM. |

Does the 700R4 have a TV cable? If so, it might be loose or broken.

Re: Engine has fallen in love with Second gear
It sounds like the problem is with your TV cable.
That vaccum solenoid will be for the lockup on the tranny. You need to make sure that your lockup is working correctly, or you'll burn the transmission up at higher speeds. It depends on the lockup to occur for proper lubrication.
