Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

Here's why I think I need a new w/s frame for my blazer. I am afraid to take the top off because I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back on. I have a truck cab in decent shape (needs rockers and a little floor work) that I can try to modify to replace the front of my blazer tub (think gee emm). Is this an option in everyone's opinion? Or is it too much to hope for. I have a lot more time than I have money at this point, so I can't shop this out and probably can't afford to find a tub in good shape.

Re: Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

Impatient, I had to take the pics, resize and post them using my dial up.

BTW the rocker boxes are shot, the bed floor is in good shape, but the bedsides are rusted out at the bottom, and rusted thru in spots at the top.
There are some rusted out spots on the firewall, but I couldn't get good pics of that.
I love the creative use of bondo all over this thing.

Re: Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

What I have to work with is, a pair of doors in good driver shape, an a/c cab that needs inner and outer rockers and a little floor work at the kick panels. I have a lwb fleetside bed to cut up for what I can use off of it also.

Re: Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

Yes, lots of rust. A lot more than on the one I'm starting with, but I still have a lot of sheetmetal to repair. I'd say you have your work cut out for ya. A good w/s frame may be good for your project

Re: Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

Sometimes it makes better sense to find a better candidate to put effort into. I'm not sure I would live long enough to fix this! What kills you is not what you see today but what you find tomorrow. Keep in mind that a blazer hides more rust then trucks do and a lot of the damage is not repairable with truck parts. Good luck.

Re: Lovely pictures of rust (not for the squeamish)

I guess it's a good thing I ain't in a hurry. Right now I have more time than money, so we'll see. Maybe after I get a house and shop built I'll have the money to buy a tub in better shape.

If you have nothing else better to do than go for it. If not, buy a better tub when you can afford it and you would be alot better off in my opinion.
