Defroster

Does everyone's defroster suck or is just mine? The thing hardly puts out any air at all.

Are your hoses in decent shape? Also, Does it blow strong in the floor?

Re: Defroster

They suck compared to later model rigs IMO. Check hoses and check the blower to make sure the hi-speed works. The PO of my truck blocked off the passenger side vent tube, so most of the air goes to driver's side. I was going to fix it, but this way my window clears fairly quickly, and once the cab warms up the other side clears too. IIRC the blowers from an A/C truck put out quite a bit more air.

Re: Defroster

The hoses are all good and it blows strong on the floor and through the dash, but hardly any air comes throught the defroster.

Al, I live about three miles south of Morrow on 22/3 in a subdivision called Wedgwood.

Is it possible that your defrost cable thing has broken? The cable moves a door thingy inside the heater box in the cab which switches the air flow from the floor to the defroster. Run the heat and move the lever and you should hear the door open/close and there should be some resisitance in the lever. If it moves freely something may be broken or loose. Mine quit working once and it turned out the back end of the lever had broken off. Other than that, mine blows (haha, I said blows) very well and defrosts the window fairly quickly.

Re: Defroster

Yeah, it should blow pretty hard through the top vents. After I redid my hoses full power is now strong enough to move my sunglasses if I set them on the dash.
