When you say "H" pipe I'm assuming you are refering to a "EQUILIZER PIPE".. It does just that ,"EQUILIZES" the exhaust PULSES from each side of the engine. It is said to help reduce back pressure by smoothing out the exhaust as it exits the pipes.

In two strokes we use TUNED PIPES that do the same thing. But you must cut them to length as to the RPM range you want the engine to operate at.
