What is it worth?
67 GMC do not know the miles on engine it is a 350 combo but the truck is straight and rust free except for a small spot on the floor on the driver side.
Let me know what you think. Thanks, Drew67

Re: What is it worth?
I know a lot of peeps will disagree, but if that thing is as clean and straight as the pics I'd go as high as 3,000 on it. IMO anything over 3K should have at least a decent paint job. Looks like its only minor bodywork and a paint job away from being really nice. I'd be willing to pay more up front for a clean straight truck, than get one for 500 and spenk 5K in body parts/labor later. Thats a great looking truck and if your asking if you should buy it the answer is absolutely.

Re: What is it worth?
Looks awfully straight and rust free. Is it actually rust free? If so, that will add to its value big time. The stepsides are in demand as you probably know. I focus more on the 4x4's but I would throw a guess out that it should be worth at least $2,000 - $2,500, others will respond that are more in the know on what it is worth than me.

Re: What is it worth?
The guy is asking $4000.00 for it. I live in KC.Mo. it is very hard to find a rust free truck here in Mo. I would like to have this truck this truck is exactly like my very first truck when all of my troubles began I got hooked.
We will see what happens is $3500 to much?

Re: What is it worth?
I wouldn't pay more than $2500 for it. Mainly because of the paintjob, but also because these trucks aren't selling very well right now and I wouldn't pay top dollar for any of them.

Re: What is it worth?
A 70 short stepside, I-6 sold here in Portland on ebay a couple months back for $2300. I looked at it & offered the guy a 1000. he laughed.... it was rusted through all around the bed floor, several spots in the side & end panels, rockers, cab supports & front end was tweaked on drivers side, needed new outer grille and some realignment/body work on the hood & fender.... oh, new Earl Scheib paint, new rear fenders, interior was unrestored & needed a lot of work. Couldn't believe he got that much for it... as previoulsy mentioned, seems like the short steppers are in high demand.

Re: What is it worth?
Seems like I sold a somewhat decent 69stepside that had no motor for $800-900 2years ago. It sold the 2days after I put it in the truck trader. Maybe I low-balled it.

You say he is asking $4000. Have a friend go with you and give him $500 in cash. Take $3000 in cash and put it in your pocket. Pull the GREEN CASH out of your pocket and offer him $3000 cash. If he counter offers with $3500, and you want to pay that much, ask your friend if he has any cash and get your $500 from him? Shake hands, do the paper work, drive away and try to quit smiling.

Re: What is it worth?
I lived in Kansas City four years, moving from N. Oklahoma. Amazing what a "little rust there" is and a "little rust here" is. People were selling cars I wouldn't have considerd fixing. I bought a 79 firebird for the drivetrain. It ran great but was so rusty, the framerails were rusted at the leaf spring perches mounts, made the car shift, and twist so bad. My rule of thumb now is not buying cars north of Wichita.(ha, ha)

Re: What is it worth?
Mine had a good paint job, but it was put on over cheap-cr*p prep work. I knew at the time I'd end up having to re-do it all someday, and I still bought the truck.
Tomatocity's advice seems like a good plan, to me. "Buy it, drive it, enjoy it, and don't look back." A year from now, it'll seem like you made a steal at that price. These steppers in that good condition are getting harder to find every day; most of them around here are absolutely beat-to-death farmer trucks. |

Re: What is it worth?
Andrew, ask if the truck has always been in New Mexico. Many of these south, west and southwest trucks started life all over the country and the owners moved to these areas, some after being in rustbelts. If you can trust that the description is true, I don't believe that even $4000 is a bad buy. But $4000 is absolutley at the top end of pricing for that truck in my opinion. How long has the truck been for sale? The law of economics has to apply here somewhere.

Re: What is it worth?
Andrew, I'd think $3000-$3500 wouldn't be a bad buy at all, I think it could be fixed up real easily!!!!! Nice find!!!!!!

Re: What is it worth?
I really like it,it`s the way I like to get them.A straight solid body is the most important thing to look for in my opinion. But,I think he`s shootin`high at $4,000.I`d start off telling him you`d feel alot better if it was more in the $3,000 range. His price is to high for the driver market. The body is a great head-start on a restoration. But,mechanicals(not discs now/whatever else),interior(ripped old mat, cheap cover on seat`n`doors, horn button gone),it needs paint(that ain`t cheap),all the weatherstrip, looks like a Chevy bumper to me.It`s gonna take alot of money to cherry it out.I don`t see that alot of money`s been put in it.More of a survivor,a great start.I`d say $2,500-3,500.I doubt you`ll see this one go for less than $3,500 from this guy.

Re: What is it worth?
I with the $3000-3500 price. I would rather buy faded original paint than covered up bodywork. Don't forget what kind of money it will take to get the bed floor nice...
