I'm planning on building a cab dolly, and was hoping someone has some plans, info or just helpful hints on building one.

Mine is currently resting on a dolly made of 4x4 timbers bolted to gether and on some nice HD casters from the local home store

I built a dolly from a old frame. I cut off just behind the trailing arm cross-member and just in front of the cab's firewall (just before the frame bends up) I left the manual transmission crossmember in for support. Then I welded casters onto the frame bottom. 2 solid and 2 swivel locking.

i always use whatever scrap lumber is laying around and put wheels on it

Excellent idea and I have a frame I am going to cut up and salvage. Excellent.

The frame idea is good but I don't have a frame I'm willing to chop-up at this time. I do have casters like whats on cdowns dolly and some 2x2 angle iron. I would like to make it so I can bolt the cab down through the original cab mounting holes to keep it stable & level while working on it. Has anyone made one similar to this, if so could I get measurements and or any pic's.

BTW, it's still sitting at my house, if you want those cab mounts...

Now we're talkin !!! The dolly wheels I have aren't pnuematic, so they wouldn't be any good on the dirt, ( Might have to check into pneumatic wheels ) but that's awesome.

I got the pneumatic casters at Harbor Freight and they work great for rolling a cab on that dolly across my pasture...by myself. They are about $9.99/ea or so at HF. They go on sale for less occasionally.

I have never had any luck with those really small air tires (Hand trucks and such) holding any air longer than a day. Do your HF tires hold air pretty good?

The pneumatic tires are a great idea since my storage is on dirt. We have HF here but we also have Blue Collar Supply that has many different wheels and sizes.
Just found out I might be selling the frame I was going to use so I need to look for another. I was thinking of doing the same for the bed so I would probably need another frame. Also thinking of using 2x4 box spacers to raise the cab and bed off of the frame for easy access. Any other ideas?
