Wiring harness interchangability??

I have a full wiring harness from a 67 chevy. My uncle has a 65 chevy. Both trucks came with a 283 and four speed. His whole wiring deal has been chopped up pretty bad. Will the harness from my 67 hook to his 65?? Is the plug on the firewall the same? How about the regulator hookups?? Could I just swap the harness, even if I had to do some changes on wires and ends??

thanks

robert

Re: Wiring harness interchangability??

If it were me, I'd pick up a manual for the '67, flip to the wiring diagram and compare it wire for wire with the '65 wiring diagram on Dave's web site.

I've got a hunch that they'll work. If I remember right, there were no significant changes to the wiring until 1968. But don't take my word for it, eyeball the two diagrams & check for blade positions in the connectors, wire colors & where they connect to.

Another thing you can do is physically compare the connectors of the two by seeing if you can plug the front harness from one truck into the other truck's firewall connector and vise versa.

Good luck!
