5 lugs vs 6 lugs?

So,
I looked at the blue '69 today, and it's definitly a project truck.
The frame is in excellent cond, the bed is wood but very worn. It has brake issues, cracked windshield, interior is pretty worn. Body has some surface rust, and a couple of holes, nothing too scary though.

Wife want me to spend more and get a nicer truck

Question...
It had 6 lug wheels, I thought those were only on like heavy duty suspensions or something...

Re: 5 lugs vs 6 lugs?

Chevy/GMC has six lugs on 1/2tons thru 1970 on 2wd & 4wd. After that, they went to 5 lugs on 1/2ton 2wd & 6lug on 4wd.

Re: 5 lugs vs 6 lugs?

When they went to disc brakes they changed from 6 to 5 lugs except on the 4x4 models which are still 6 lug...Sid
