GMC grill
my GMC grill is starting to look bad, the black if flaking, and the chrome is lookin really rusty and crappy, my question is so u guy think these thing look ok painted, if so would u go black or the truck color?

Rechroming would be way too expensive....replace it if you really want the chrome.
I painted mine white, and while it lends to the farm truck look, it looks 10 times better than it had before. |

Well, I didn't prep it nearly enough, becouse some of it is peeling off.
I would recomend either hitting it with a d a sander with some 80 grit and then a few coats of primer to smooth it out, or sand blasting it. I used spray bomb, but it is $25 a can high solids paint which has been confused with powedercoat. |

Have you tried a little Brillo or SoS pad on the rust? If it's just surface rust and not pitted, it should come out pretty nice. JC

I like them painted white like Andy's. Just paint the GMC letters black to offset the white, and they look perfect. As far as prep, I think Andy nailed it. Be sure to rough it up really well before you paint it, paint and chrome don't like each other.
