help me decide on tires

i am trying to decide if I should run a 285/70-15 or a 275/60-15 on the back. On the front I want to run something that is 26" tall.A 235/60-15 is to wide.I was thinking more like a 205 or 215.below is what it looks like right now with the 235/75-15 on all 4's

Re: help me decide on tires

I am running a 255/70/15 on the rear(29" tall), & have 225/75/15's up front(28.25 " tall)......but plan to go with a 225/70/15 up front to get to about 27.5 on the fronts. I run rallys on my longhorn also (15x8's rear & 15x6.5's up front). You can figure the 275/60/15's to be right at 28" tall......the 285/70/15's im not sure on the height, but think they may be really tall compaired to what you are planning to run up front. best of luck, L

Here is what mine looks like with 275/60/15 and a 3/5 drop. It looks like your drop is similar.

Re: help me decide on tires

A 285/70 is 30" tall give or take a little depending on your wheel width. I have pics of 2 different trucks with different wheel widths. If you want pics, just send me your email address. I ran 235/70 on the front of both.

Re: help me decide on tires

Do the 235's you're running now rub in the front? Are your wheels 15X8's all the way around? If you have 8's all the way around you might see if you can get some 7 inch ralleys for the front, and see if your front tires work better. The 7 inch ralleys should have a better offset for the front of your truck. I've seen the 7 inch ralleys here on the board pretty cheap. As far as the back tires I run 275 60 R15 on my 15X8's and they look great, you could try the 285 70 R15's, but your truck will be really rake with the super tall back and short front.

Good luck, Steven

Re: help me decide on tires

One of the trucks I had was a 6" spring with a 3/4"block and 285/70 15 on a 10" corvette rally style wheel with no problems. The 6/8 drop is gonna be more of a tire question for the bagged truck guys.

Re: help me decide on tires

I have decided for the fronts I am going with a 205/65-15 on a 7 inch rally and on the rear, either a 315/60-15 m/t drag radial or a 29X12.5-15 m/t sportsman

Re: help me decide on tires

I wish someone made a 275/65/15 or a 285/60 or 65/15. You could get some height withe width without going too tall.

I wouldn't run the 285/70's. IMO they look like you tried to stuff a 4x4 tire on a 4x2 truck.

Just my .02

Re: help me decide on tires

if you're running 2.5" drop spindles, you might want a taller tire than 26" up front. I'm running 26" tires with drop spindles and my control arms drag way too much. I'm thinking I should go with a 27" up front. Not to mention that personally I believe the 26" tire is too small to fill that fenderwell properly, my $.02
