Engine swap 1990 into a 1972?

I have a 1990 suburban with a 350 EFI and would like to transplant it into my 1972 GMC I dont know how to deal with the EFI setup and the computer has anybody done this type of swap before, is the computer a stand alone system or do I have to butcher up the whole suburban harness to make the transplant?

Thanks in advance..

Painless wiring makes a great harness. It uses your stock stuff otherwise, just replacing the cumbersome factory harness with a more streamlined one. It's plug and play.

Jegs or Summit has them for about 300 bucks.
