Arm Rest spacing on top 67-71?

I'm going to be running the early style arm rests found in the 67-71 trucks on the custom door panels I'm building for my 72, but I was wondering if someone could do me a favor and measure the distance from the top of the arm rest to the top of the door panel? I want to make an insert like some had with the woodgrain and need to know how tall to make it. I'm guessing 2-3", but I'm not certain. Thanks.

From the top of the arm rest to the bottom of the metal strip that the door panel slides into is 3". From the top of the arm rest to the top of that same metal strip is 3 1/2" - wasn't sure where you wanted the measurement to go to so there is both.

No problem. Post up some pics when you get the project done.

You betcha! I got the panels built, I just have to pick up the upholstery when I go in to get the rest of my truck parts.
