63 Stepside Bed on 67-72?

Has anyone ever seen or have a picture of a earlier stepside bed on one of our trucks? I found a sweet stepside box today for $100. I do not like the 67-72 step box I have especially with the pretty spare tire cutout. My bed is in perfect shape except the fenders the right side is bent and the driver has a tire hanging on the side!
Just thought it may be a cheap option if it help the looks until i find a fleet.
I found a '67 long step today also, but he wont part the truck he said its to retorable. He wants $250 for it. Its a 67 minus the motor has a 4spd, nice windshield, nice painted fron bumper, nice box, good core support and grille but the fenders and cab are junk.
I don't have the $250 to spend but I want all those parts. anyone need along step bed without fenders?LOL

I haven't seen the bed swap you describe, but the grille and core support alone are worth $250 on that '67 if they are in nice condition

grilles and core supports around here generally run $30-$50 each down here for decent rust free if you look around. If the fenders were nice id come up with a way to buy it. But i need the windshield and the rear step side fenders. I want the hood, core support, and grille to put a 67 nose on my truck. Unfortunatley right now i don't have the means to buy things i want.
I also don't want to start parting trucks anymore. I just want to build one or two for myself.

Re: 63 Stepside Bed on 67-72?

I had a short '69 parts truck with a '65 step bed on it, it didn't look bad, actually I prefered the earlier bed on the '69 instead of a newer step bed on it (ie: '88 and up) those look like crap, at least the '65 fenderwell matched the front fenders, sorry I don't have a pic of it

Re: 63 Stepside Bed on 67-72?

How was it that the '65 fender wells (arches?) matched a '69 front fender? The 55-66 step fenders have squared off arches vs. the rounded 67-72. Maybe I'm misinterpreting???

Regardless, I agree that the 55-66 bed would probably look OK. Round the rear arches like my ’61 and it would look even better
