Engine hoist/stand for '66 350 inside a '63 long-stepside

So about ten years ago I fell asleep at the wheel and rolled my '63 chevy LNB (long narrow/step-side bed) and fortunately it landed back on all four tires so there's little body damage, but I'm pretty sure the engine got a really good bounce out of it. It hasn't turned over since.

The truck has been sitting all this time with no maintenance. I imagine I'd have to pull it out and do some things to it, replace the mounts, etc. (I'm replacing the frame, so it'll have to come out regardless).

My question is, do I need to worry about what wieght capacity the lift has? I have no idea what this engine wieghs. Secondly, instead of investing in the cost of a stand also, can the hoist hold the engine for an indefinite amount of time?

And on a related tangent, what's a good resource for finding instructions on how to do this? I also have a four speed manual transmission ('60's/'70's model?) that will need to be removed too. Would a Chilton's or Haynes manual be good for something like this?

Seriously, any information would be much appreciated on this.

Drop the hoist to allow the engine to just rest on the pan (maybe on some blocks) and leave it hangin. I haven't used any manuals yet, but they're probably worth having.

Thanks Frizzle. By the way, I'm not usually a big fan of dropped trucks but your hybrid is looking very sweet. I can't wait to see the finished project.
