please help with 68 color scheme
I finished up on the major bodywork today and its all in black primer now. I have a few weeks of block sanding and spot puttying to go until its ready but I'm still trying to come up with a decent color scheme for top coating in late september. Ive got two gallons of black lacquer to work with but I was thinking of going with the grill area and possible the area under the chrome on the tailgate in either red or white. Anyone have a pic of a 67 or 68 done in a similar fashion?

I have seen trucks like yours, with the grille area painted white, like factory, but I don't think black is the color to do that with. I'd paint the entire truck black, and let the chrome trim be the accent. If your truck was painted a lighter color, I'd go with white for the grille area, but not red.
Early Classic Enterprises redid a '68, and made it solid red, with the factory trim. It looks really nice. So, my vote is for solid black with factory trim. No charge for my opinion.

Some color schemes in '68 had silver grilles. And two-tone black/silver looks great, IMO.

My vote would be for white face/black body. It would be very sharp and look stock too. The silver faced ones were only the very basic 68's that lacked the chrome trim.

since the truck is in black primer now I think I might spray the face in white primer to get an idea of what she'll look like. I'm out 20 for a quart of primer if it looks bad . boo hoo.

I'd try the silver and see what it looked like before sprayin' the color. Experiment a little now might save " I WISH I HAVE, I WISH I HAVE" LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Color Scheme
Have a friend with a 68 Stepside. It's Red with Black accent trim. ie: CHEVROLET on tailgate and interior & I think front grill area. Looks really sweet. Of course I didn't realize there was any other color other than RED!
If you have some extra sheet metal, try it on the spare part first. What you like is what counts most. Just my 2 cents. Joe
