Question swapinf 4x4 front axles

can I swap a mid 70s GM dana 44 front axle in place of the closed knuckle, drum brake front axle I now have in my 69 GMC? Sorry if this had been covered a 100 times in past threads. if so is it a bolt in, or is there some major work ahead, Thanx, Munk

Munk, should pretty much be a bolt in. I replaced mine with one out of an 80 Blazer. In 1980, the brake hose fittings went to metric so I had some changes to do there. Anything 79 and earlier shouldn't be a problem. It should bolt right in.

Is a blazer frame a different width than a truck ? It seem to be a blazer tie rod were too short to use on a chevy truck I had before. I guess I will have to go to the junk yard and do some more measuring.
