is this a good deal

after running around looking for parts for my lil honda, I stumbled across what looks like a 71 cheyenne in a local wrecking yard, the body is complete and straight minus the grill and front bumper, and all interior, it had a 402 in it, and has factory AC, which is mostly there, very little rust in the floor boards,
the guy wants 150.00, but he has no paperwork

Lets just say, worst case senerio... you can't get papers, and you are too honest to swap the VIN plate...
How hard would it be to get 150 bucks out of it parting it out?

Assuming you have the space...
Go buy it man.

Re: is this a good deal

said "had" so I'm guessing its no longer there. depends on what OK is like to get a new title, or if they care that much about them. although, if its rust free and has some good parts, thats still a good score.

To me it seems like a good deal. How can you go wrong for that price?

Re: is this a good deal

If this '71 can be made to run again, I'd hate to see it parted out for lack of a title. I dug up this email address (otcmaster@oktax.state.ok.us) at the OK DOT web site (http://www.oktax.state.ok.us/title.html). You can email him and ask what it would take to get a title. You'll probably need the VIN so they can see who supposedly owns it.

Re: is this a good deal

ok thank you all, no motor or trans in it, its been stripped pretty much, i was thinking tho the cab an body are in better condition then my current project, alot less bondo, and the AC cab is a plus, im thinking on the title part, i should be able to get in contact of the previous owner, before they sold it to the wrecking yard, and get their help in getting a title hopefully, I'll get some pics of it when i make it out there again

Re: is this a good deal

Remember, some states have it to where you can't put a vehicle on the road after it's been in a jun k yard.
Something to wonder about... WHY doesn't the junk yard have a title

It`s hard(about impossible) to junk a complete vehicle w/o a title here.If you`re just wanting the cab and other bits off it,you shouldn`t worry with a title. If you swapped the cab onto your truck and had that title,it still wouldn`t be legit since the frame number wouldn`t match.I don`t think switching VIN-plates is that big of a deal on older vehicles in most states. For piece of mind you could verify it wasn`t stolen.

My truck has the cab off of another truck on it, I plan on swapping the vin plates, cuz the way I see it my truck is still a 70 GMC even tho the cab is a 72 Chevy cab. Currently I'm running two different vins on it. Will anyone ever even
notice....probably not.
