Hard tonneau cover stepside

Hello, I'm looking for a hard tonneau cover for my '68 c10 stepside. I bagged it and the tanks and compressors, fuel cell, ect. are in the bed. All I can find are soft covers. I want to paint the cover. Anyway does anyone know where to get one? Thanks for you help...

Whatever you do, avoid SnugLid.

I would call Gaylords (Google for their website) and ask them. I think they're down in Cali.

I think a lot of the guys in TX recently got Checkmate lids...not sure if they're soft though. I think they were less than $600 though. Gaylords will cost $800+

Just curious, but why?

Not something I really want to do, but don't think I've ever seen it done.... anyone have pics of one done, it does sound like a neat idea

Re: Hard tonneau cover stepside

Found a checkmate for $369 plus shipping, called gaylord, they are $1200 and the guy said checkmates are junk. $400 verses $1200 though. Don't have $1200 for a cover. I will check on the pro picks...

Re: Hard tonneau cover stepside

Can't find pro picks tonneau covers anywhere. Got a website?

This is a headache, I think I might just make one out of sheetmetal or aluminum. Anyone done this?

The Checkmate ones I have seen were pretty good.I also like that they are a flush fit.I know you used to be able to go to Kentucky and pick them up installed for about $369.00 or you had to pay shipping and install it yourself.

Re: Hard tonneau cover stepside

Do these sit outside the bedrails or inside?
What about scuffing and scratching the paint where they sit?

Re: Hard tonneau cover stepside

I had checkmate on a stepside and it was ok. Here in the NW we get our rain and I noticed leaking in side even tho all the seals were in tack. It sagged in the center a bit and would puddle. I have a short wide and have Gaylords on it. No leaking but the fiberglass has small bubbles here and there. So when I have the truck painted it will all have to be repaired. So each one has it faults unless you are the lucky guy who gets a nice one. I like checkmate for the low profile and yet I like gaylords because they are heavy and well built.

Re: Hard tonneau cover stepside

Checkmate is not bad at all. They take a little more paint prep to make em look good.
