Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

I ordered all new rubber for my top from LMC. I'm still installing it, but so far I haven't had a problem. I hated to order from them but they were a minimum of $121 less than other vendors. Hopefully it lasts. If not, I'll be ordering the more expensive stuff from other vendors.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

Hate to admit it but I ordered three items for my top from LMC just yesterday. Hated to do it, but LMC is just real easy to order from and didn't have the time to make multiple calls etc. I DO like to support the board vendors when I can. I don't think there are more than one manufacturer of these parts, I don't think there is enough volume and the equipment required to reproduce parts is expensive. Takes a long time to get your money back. I think even if you see a different name on a part it's still probably made by only one manufacturer, they just brand it differently. It's a shame, but everything is done that way now adays. Just my .02, if anyone knows different let me know. Granted it may not be for every single part, but in general.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

I ordered all my seals from LMC as well. The fit and quality are OK - but they were definately not as good as original. If I had it to do over I would order the door and window seals from Brother's. The other seals aren't that critical and LMC quality is OK.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

I just finished installing the new rubber and putting the top back on last night. The fit on the rubber all seemed fine. It definately isn't the same quality as the original. The metal plates inside aren't as thick as original and the original door rubber on the original had an extra piece inside it at the bend where the windshield frame meets the pilar.

Putting the top back on with the new rubber was a bit more difficult. The rubber was soft, sticky and twice as thick as the flattened out original rubber. It was a bit of a wrestling match between me and the top. I have a gap on the passenger side window, but that could be due to original body mounts sagging when I took the top off for the first time ever at the beginning of the summer. I'll probably dirve it around for a week or two, then loosen all the bolts and try to get the top in a better position. Hopefully it will reduce the gap around the window a bit.

Yeah, you guys are right, there is nothing like ORIGINAL. But were do you find it, and then, can you afford it.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

Wondered how your top rubber was doing Bouncy. Has it settled into place after a week of rain? Let us know how it looks to be wearing too. I'll have to buy some at some point. Thanks, Jeff.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

It hasn't completely settled yet. I had to add a little gorilla snot (super weatherstrip adhesive) around the drip rail area of the passenger side. I may need to do a little of the same on the drivers side. If we ever get another dry day, I may losen all the bolts and drive it around the block to hopefully, get it to settle into place a little better.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

I ordered a rear hatch seal and door glass to top seals from GMCPauls. If anyone is looking for correct reproductions made with top quality rubber, this is the place to get them. The rear hatch seals I've seen from other suppliers are made of generic, thin, rubber which is cut and glued to mimic the shap of the hatch openning. They are usually twisted up and hard to install. The GMCPauls hatch seal is a CORRECT repro with the correct shape and size. It is molded into a single piece without seams. Its amazing what crap others will sell, and call a "replacement". Also, both the hatch seal and door glass seals came with a lifetime warranty. The rubber feels like the original stuff. Its heavy and firm, not all foam-like or spongy.

Not to turn this into a plug for GMCPauls, but they went out of their way to correct an error I made in my order, despite their return policy. Good parts quality and great customer service in my opinion.

Re: Weather Stripping (best source?)

I agree with cleszkie.
I got ALL my Blazers weather stripping from GMC Pauls and it all fit's perfectly!
Good quality rubber and his price was competetive.
