anyone have any pics of 73-87's with a late model step bed?

I don't have any photos, but I can tell you they don't look good.

Ditto. The lines don't line up at all. They look much better on the 67-72 model trucks. The lines flow perfectly like from the factory.

I agree. Sometimes what one of us hates, another likes. I will be keeping my "Dumbo Ears" mirrors, for example.

I have seen one locally that was finished. They look better in the pictures.

IMO i think the late model beds look good on the 2wd 73-87's, but the 4x4's just dont look right. My buddy has a '70 with a '94 bed 2wd and it looks extremely well done, exept where he hit the corner of a dove-tail trailer on the front roll pan(no bumper)

They dont really look that horrible but... Im not really into swapping body styles of any vehicle but still wanted to see how they look for myself. Thanks...

I do think the late box fits perfectly on this truck though...corn

It does look good on that truck. The lines from the door to the bed flow perfect together.

Yeah, what makes them look so bad on our body styles is 73-87's are square and the later beds are rounded. Just doesn't blend well together if you ask me. I've seen them in person and they don't look any better. I'm not a fan of trying to make an older body style look newer. If I wanted a newer looking truck, I'd buy one.

I saw that first blue one in person and was with the guy who took the pic. It definately was not any better in person. Mike is right on. The beds are not made for our model trucks.

YIKES!!! fight the feeling Corn. I saw those pics of your truck with the 2 beds you already have and it looked sweet with both of them. I know it is hard to choose which way to go with those two but PLEASE pick one of those!!! I mean all of this in the nicest way possible

I am also not a fan of swapping body styles and that includes all of the cheesy looking caddy fronts I have seen people using on some vehicles. C'mon, these trucks were designed with what they got, not just thrown together. I agree the truck that n2trux has a pic of looks the best of the ones I have seen, but one of the lines on original truck just dies at the end of the cab( the small line approximately 2 inches from bottom of truck right below door. I know it is expensive to get a goo factory bed but I think it would be awesome to have a good fleetside bed with some pretty wood inside. But please do not swap. In all gm dealers it say keep it genuine, that also means to stay within its era. This is just my .02 but alot of people share my opinion. I keep getting the question in my head Why every time I see a 20-30,000 dollar show truck that doesn't even match. Its like dress shoes with overalls, it just looks funny.

I agree.... a hard body, with nice curves.... definitely something to make you look twice and cause a wreck or hit a post if you're not careful. You can’t deny that a combo like this work well.

AMEN to that!

That's exactly why I would NEVER put a burb front end on a 73-80 truck. If I wanted a newer looking truck I would get a newer looking truck.
