Relax and hear me out

There is a guy in my evening class that has a Ford Van for sale.
This is a 1970 Pathfinder. This was a van sold by Ford and taken to the Pathfinder Co. They then converted it to a 4x4 and then delivered to the end user. It is a 12 passenger, 3/4ton.
The particulars are; Dana 44 front end, Dana 60 rear end, 460 engine, C6 transmission, and the transfer case is unknown to me.
My question is this. How much of this vehicle is usable as Chevrolet parts? I did not think there was much difference in the Dana 44's and I am not sure about the rest.
The vehicle runs and drives and he was asking $450.00 for all of it. Is there anything there?

The pumpkin would be on the wrong side of the diff for you to use the D44 in your Chevy, unless you used a later style driver's drop transfercase.

If you were just gonna buy it for parts, I'd tend to say that it may be a waste of money

Re: Relax and hear me out

Thanks for the info. I guess he really needs to find a Ford 4-wheelin big block fanatic.
Then again, maybe I should buy it and let some Chevy monster trucks run over it.

Re: Relax and hear me out

I could use it in my straight axle swap, as all new chevrolets have driver side xfer case outputs, and the rear would be an exact match for me as well. Where are you located? This is a great find.

Re: Relax and hear me out

I wouldn't use that front axle for a SAS. Being a 1970, it won't be high pinion, and possible have closed knuckle with drum brakes. I think I would pass on it......T-case could be a NP205/202, or a Rockwell. I got a Dana 60 rear that will be up for sale soon, and I have a posi unit for it too. Shipping is about $200.

Real shame. I have a buddy that is driving up here tonight to hunt deer this week. He will be heading back to Alabama the middle of next week. Rainesville area.

Ford didn`t go to discs until`76,I believe. The complete drivetrain is well worth the $450.And,the rolling frame would be a gem to someone wanting to do a 4wd conversion on a second design Econoline.

Re: Relax and hear me out

Michael is back in Alabama now. The van is still for sale if it would do anybody good for another project of some kind. Won't do me any good and just trying to help the guy out.
