cleaning dash lens
on some thread a while ago i read that you can use or osthewrs have tried to use some chemical to clear up a dash lens anybody remember this or know of a way thanks for the info dave

I rememeber seeing one that was about scratches -- I clean all my interiors and plastics with one thing --- a damp cloth -- unless there is a stain or other.
If scratches are the problem----try Pledge. Is that Greenville TX? |

Meguiars #17 Clear plastic cleaner( $7) what I use and itworks really well.If that can't get the scratches out you make have to get a fine rubbing compound, but by the time you buy these you could just buy a new lens and be done with it.My .02 Randy

McGuires also sells plastic polish (in addition to the plastic cleaner)that works good. Another possible option is if you have any kids in high school...I took an Industrial Arts class (shop) and we had this big plastic buffer with compound..it worked great to polish stuff up. If there are no huge gouges in the plastic face I am sure 5 minutes on the buffing wheel would make it look nice. Worth a try, especially since the letters on the repos don't line up right.

I've never had any plastic polish, so i can't say anything about them, however, I always have Mother's wheel polish/wax/cleaner on hand, and it makes an old one look brand new after an hr of rubbing and a sore arm.
