Ok, quick lesson......what does it mean Z-ed the frame? That's a new one on me......Please teach me.....lol

Steve it's a term that has been around hot rodding for many years. It is becoming popular again with 67-72 and 73-87 trucks because it's a means of getting the front of a truck lower.

The term Z'ing comes from cutting the frame and raising a section of it up, effectively lower the rest of it at the same time. This cut and welded section looks like a Z.

It's better described with pictures, so take a look at these from an 85 Chevy truck. This picture shows where the cut was made at the firewall. There was a reinforcing plate welded over the cut section.....

This raises the frame section that the front crossmember is attached to, which lowers the rest of the truck. To make this work, you have to Z the front of the frame where it attaches to the body.....

And the end result is a truck that can set it's frame on the ground with air suspension....
