Cab Swaps
Just 2 quick questions. My dad is working on a 67 1-ton flat bed work truck, and it had cab lights which leaked and the whole cab is rusted to sh*t. He has been looking but cant find any cabs like that nearby. Would a 73-87 cab fit, or more particularly an 80? IF not, does anyone know of any 67-72 chevy/gmc cabs for sale in north-central Washington? Thanks guys.

well for starters if you were able to get the cab to mount on there you would have to use the nose from the 1980 too. Im sure with some kind of metal fabrication it would mount on there but i sure have no idea what exactly you would need to do to make it fit... im sure you would also have to use the steering column and the wiring harness from the 1980 too sounds like alot of work.. id check junkyards and the internet for cabs for the truck you have i believe 67-72 cabs will all interchange without any real mods

yeah, im looking for a 67-72... but this thing is simply a work truck, so it is too much work to try anything fancy... thanks for the help though...

Its far from a bolt-on.
The 73+ cabs are about 3" longer. The rear mounts are on the inboard side of the frame and much higher up. If you planned to move the bed, and transplant the 73+ frame brackets... with some DIY fabbing... it could definitely be done.
