Re: am/fm radio on flebay
It looks correct to me but does not look to be in too good of shape. Does it work? But it does look like the one I have in my '70 and mine is OE. The am/fm switch can be exchanged and can be found in LMC and a lot of other dealers.

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
I don't think it is correct, it looks like a car radio from around the same time. My .02 Randy

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
I'm with Bird, I think the truck am/fm radios looked like the one below with black push buttons but I am not positive. Somebody on here will know for sure.

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
chipflyers is correct pic...looks at the thin push buttons on the ebay one in first post and notice the difference..I'd say a 70 pontiac radio myself or similar full size car is the ebay one.

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
Chipflyers radio looks like mine and I know mine is right. It is the am/fm that came in the Suburban my when my dad bought the Burb new in 1970. The push buttons are not chrome but black as in the picture chipflyer put up.

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
Not an original Chev Truck am-fm from 69-72!!! BEware!!!
the others pictured look correct--should have a finned heat sink on the right side---antenna must plug in on the side--NOT from the bottom (van radio). If you bid, withdraw your bid. An original truck am/fm typically sells for around $150. not working and $250.++ for a working one. It can cost you up to $100.+ to get a non working one fixed. Huck |

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
Watch out for these, some people on EBAY sell these as 67-72 truck radios. They are not! These were mid 70's chevy van radios. Notice the delco script is the newer style and is on the lower left corner, the station numbers on the roller are shorter (different font) and the antenna location is in the bottom of the radio and not the side. The front bezel and buttons are the same and these can be made to look just like the correct truck radio if you can find the parts to change them but you might end up with a lot of money in it. Just an FYI

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
I wonder why GM did not use the same radio since they are almost the same but yet different?

Re: am/fm radio on flebay
AM/FM was not an intended option at first for the truck lines; just wasnt considered a convenience need as trucks were seen more as purpose use and not family or commuter related.
Later in 71-72 they were better implied thru dealerships, especially with the newer model about to be released. As for why not 1 radio: GM was in good financial postion back then not to consider cost cutting, they were able to give models more identity value thru appearance differences!
