Re: Electric Fans?

Electric fans are fine, but all it takes is a bad wire or a relay going bad to render them useless. I have done many a head gasket job due to electric fans not kicking on...and not just on 150,000 mile old junk cars either...some fairly new ones too.
A fixed bladed fan on a fan clutch is hard to beat, esp if you plan on towing.

I couldn't agree with you more! A fixed blade fan is very cheap, reliable and effective. Sure a wire going bad will render an electric unit useless. There are an infinite number of parts that can fail that will shut us down. A water pump could fail and blow a head gasket. If we aren't aware of our surroundings, watching the gauges, listening for unusual sounds or smells anything can happen. My older brother drove off with a Camaro I used to own and ran it hot, blew the head gasket. I think there are people on this site everyday looking for help tracking down bad wires that have shut them down for one reason or another. Once again I am by no means disagreeing with you. I still know people that won't run HEI because they are afraid it will fail. I guess that's why this hobby is so great! We have different people with different ideas building their trucks. If I wanted to see trucks that were all stock and looked alike I would spend all my time looking at GM's site and their new trucks .
