Wiring harness help needed

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the front light harness and the engine harness for a 67 to a 72 Chevy truck? They look about the same as afr as I can tell. The 67 has no dash gauges for the water temp, oil, ect and the 72 has all of the gauges in the cluster. I'm trying to find better wiring for my 72 and happen to have the 67 stuff. Thanks for any help.

The connectors for the turn signal lights might not be right. There won't be any sidemarker lights on the '67 harness.

Also the 67, the parking lights go out when you turn the headlights on.

I may be different thinking, than others, but I just have a problem using old wiring, when there is some new stuff available. Yeah, it costs a little, but in my opinion, what is under the hood is subject to all of the heat, cold and vibration that exists when the vehicle is being operated.

If you have a 1-wire alternator and and HEI, you will have to modify both the engine and lighting harnesses. I have used stuff from www.wiringharness.com, and they will make them the way you need them. They have all of the right connectors and the wiring color code matches the original colors. The stuff just plugs in and hooks up just like original, and you don't have to worry about brittle insulation, broken connectors, splices, etc. It will add to your peace of mind, when you need to count on it running for a long time.

I wish i could afford to think like that.
However, in all reality, if you can understand the way electricity works, and you know now to make good connections and repairs that will hold properly for a long time, and assuming you are starting with a harness that has not been rat infested and/or had mickey mouse electricians hacking at it, an old harness can be just as good as a new one, and lots of cash saved.
And in all reality, a one wire alt and HEI do not require mods... just 2 wires to be run and the old stock stuff tucked up out of the way for if you would ever want to go back to original. (Never happen on the HEI...personally would never even consider a one wire alt myself)

When you are stuck in BFE kentucky with a bum alt, auto zone probably won't have what you need.
Plus, there is simply no need for it. I understand items you'd want to have for a specific reason, but why a one wire alt? Just install a later model GM alt with an internall regulator, and you're good. All the amps you want, fits in your stock brackets no problem, you don't have to cut out all the wires you aren't using anymore, no amp meter issues (if you trust 30+ year old guages) Just install, make 2 small jumper wires, pop 2 wires out of a plug and into a replacement plug and you are done.
And no longer stuck looking for a replacement when it is needed, not trying to figure how to wire up the 'normal' parts after the fancey one wire dies in BFE.
And a rather minor point... reving the engine (RPM dictated by pully sizes... can be pretty high of a rev if you are underdriven) to get it to start charging is annoying IMO...and probably to the neighbors too....like I said, minor...but none the less... a reason.
Simply no point.

looking at the original question... one of your harnesses is for guages, and one for dummy lights...
They are NOT the same.

There was actually an add on the radio, can't remember whos, but they said somethign about being broek down in the middle of nowherer. and you hear silence, then a cricket chirp. Then the announcers sais, "Or even worse" Then in the silence you hear a "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and then dauling banjos. I heard that and I started LMFAO, make me think of our members in WV.
