Stupid Question??

How do I tell if my burb is 1/2 or 3/4 ton? Thought it would say on vin or title. It's a 2wd coil rear. VIN is CE169Z877268 if that helps. Thanks for any help.

Re: Stupid Question??

6 lug wheels = 1/2 ton through 70
5 lug wheels = 1/2 ton 71 and 72 (unless 4x4, still 6 lug.)
8 lug wheels = 3/4 ton. 2 or 4 wheel drive.

Your 'burb has the correct lug pattern, '67-'70 had 6 lugs drum brakes all arround for a 1/2 ton, for a 3/4 ton it had 8 lugs all around regardless of the year, but in '71 they came out with the disc brake on the front (this disk upgrade applies for all trucks regardless if it was a half ton, 3/4 ton or a 1 ton)

Now for 4X4, all 1/2 ton ('67-'72) were 6 lugs with the disc change in '71 as mentioned above.

Re: Stupid Question??

BTW, does your 'burb have a C-10 or C-20 badge? c-10 is a 1/2 ton and C-20 would be a 3/4 ton.

The "1" in the third place indicates it is 1/2 ton.

Here is the breakdown:

C = 2wd
E = V-8
1 = 1/2 ton
6 = suburban?
9 = 1969
Z = Fremont assembly plant.

The rest is the serial number.
