What mufflers???

What mufflers do you suggest I use on my truck('70 C/10 swb).. I have a SB 350 With a mild cam in it with dynamax headers and will be running an H-pipe. The exhaust will dump just in front of the rear axle. I have a flowmaster on my '01 Z71 and like it quite well but think the noise will be a bit too much for my liking and loder truck with very little sound deadining and $$$ put a bad taste in my mouth when you have to get 2 of them. Give me some ideas and why I should get XXX brand.

Re: What mufflers???

Mike,
Dynomax has a series called Hemi Super Turbo. The ones I have is part # 17749. It is 2 1/2 offset in/ offset out. Case length is 20". My pipes exit at the corners of the rear bumper so they are real quiet. Shorter pipes would increase the volume a bit. Under $50.00 thru Summit or Jeg's.

Re: What mufflers???

I 've been looking at them. The local muffler shop owner owes me a favor for helping him out at the race trck this year. He said he would put the exhaust on my truck for me when I was ready.

the old truck is coming right along. Put the hood back on it over the weekend, seat should be here anyday now, got to get a windshield for the old girl next.

Re: What mufflers???

What ever you select, try to get them in offset/offset, makes for a cleaner install.

Re: What mufflers???

Mike,
I had flowmasters 50 on the 96 and liked them alot. The muffler guy who initially installed them a few years ago is now recommending a Magnaflow model (similar to my flow 50, but I forgot the name). He says the outer sound is about the same, but supposedly the magnflows don't intrude into the interrior with the noise as much. I'll know more Friday when they get put on the 03.

Re: What mufflers???

I run 50'sflows, in a 2 1/2 " system(awsome sound"). the dynomax Super Turbos are a really good flowing muff, & also sound awsome ......I would run the 14" body muffler, unless you like em really quiet.....then the 20" body Hemi muffs are the ticket. L

Re: What mufflers???

Well it all depends on where you exit the system. I have Super 40' 3" dual and shorty headers. All summer I had it dumped under the box windows down it was awesome. Then it got cool windows up WAY to loud inside. So I broke down ordered 3" manderal bends put the truck up on axel stands and exited the exhaust in front of the wheels just a 1/2"past the lip of the box. Now It's louder out side but a really nice hot rod sound and peacefull quite inside. If you start turing 4500rpm it get's a little louder but still nice.

My point. The exiting point is what will make the comfort inside. I am willing to bet you will not like the exhaust exiting under the box.

Hope I helped some, Mario

I had a similar set up at the axle. Hated the vibration. Turn em out in front of the wheel or something. Just bone jarring under the vehicle.
