Does this look like a radiator for 67-72 truck? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

The guy selling it says it is a four row for chevy trucks. He said it should fit a 70 truck. I want to make sure before I buy It. I can't compare it to anything because I don't have a radiator. Can anyone help?

the lower outlet is straight... needs to be at an angle.

the lower outlet came curved or straight so you really can't go by that.

You can use a straight outlet rad, but getting the right lower hose is tricky. I have one and had to try a dozen or so hoses to get the right one. If that one fits and you want to use it. I can get you the part # for the hose that will work for straight lower outlet / long water pump combo, if that's what you'd be runnin. Don't quote me , but I think it was the '73 and up one, and it needs to be trimmed a bit on both ends to make it work.

the lower rad hose never came straight on any 67 - 72 10 - 30 series. (2 wheel drive...I don't know 4X4's. You can USE straight ones...but that doesn't make it a 67 - 72 rad.

I measured mine and came up with 18 1/2" H X 34" L

There are a few things I would look at before buying it.

1. Does it have the cooling tank for an auto tranny, and do you need one? If you have a standard then no but who knows when you might want to swap.
2. how much is he asking?
3. Is it in real good condition?
4. Will the fan shroud fit?

From the picture it looks kike a newer one and it looks like it will fit.

He is selling it for $100.00. and says it is new. I want (like everyone else) to save a little money, But I want the right part as well, not just something that will do.

I think I will pass on it. I saw it on Craigs List and the guy lives in Lodi.

I used a 74 Monte Carlo rad in one truck a 67 I think.GM has been kind enough to make many parts interchangable over the years.The hoses aren't a big deal to me since I don't do "concours" style restoration.I would measure and see if the one he has for sale will fit the rad mounts and use it if it is new and you can buy it cheap.

I have a 4 row out of a 74 sub sitting next to the 4 row out of my 70 C30. The 74 rad is aprox 3" taller than the 70. The 3 row out of a 79 truck I have is the same hieght as the 70 4 row.
If that 4 row rad is 73 up I think it will be too tall for you.

the 73 - 87 had 2 core heights, i think the 3/4 ton and one tons had the tall one, but I am not certian on that. I have used a 73-87 one, and had aquired another that was too tall.

In my experiance the 2 core hieghts on the 73 up had to do with it being a 4 core=tall 3 core= short . The 79 3 core (short) I referenced was also a one ton truck. I also have a 76 K10 that came factory 4 core and it is also tall. This is just my experience with a few trucks, so I dont know if this is hard and fast rule but it seems to be a pattern to me.
Your heavier trucks such as 3/4 or 1 tons would more often come with the 4 core which is why it may seem those had the tall rads.

sounds good to me... I try to not pay much attention to the 73 - 87 trucks. Poor build quality and and ugly face.
But that's just my view on them.

Here are some pics of how I run a later model radiator in my 72 truck. I had the radiator out of an 83 truck, and didn't feel like parting with the money to buy a correct 67-72 unit. I used 73-87 hoses and all works great.

I have both straight and curved lower openings on radiators I pulled from 67-68 C10 trucks. I agree, the curved are much easier to use.

From the pic, the upper trans line may be to high?
