I noticed that the truck has the HoleShot on the 71/72 Chevelle . That does look fun . Poor guy in the car has to be worried about getting beat by a truck in front of all those people . Frank

Re: My motivation... (pic inside)

the only thing that I can think of that'll stop me from doing that is the lack of a tranny brake. I'm leaving the tranny I have now in mine, so it'll be launching off the footbrake, which means I'll have a horrible time building the boost I want on the line.

As soon as the tranny gives up it'll get a brake with the rebuild, meaning that I'll be able to launch at my desired rpm with full boost.

I don't think I'm that far off, and I bet you've still got more $ in that beauty of yours, N2TRUX

And don't worry DroppedZ, quite a bit of that work is already done

Unhappy Re: My motivation... (pic inside)

Actually you don't want to do that a car or truck that yanks the front end up that high isn't set up correctly. But it does look fun!

Instead of all that energy going to the pavement whare you really need and want it to be it's going in the air and that's not good for ET.

Thats what wheele bars are for.

Yeah, I agree looks like tons of expensive fun. But I bet it would be a blast.

I've got a fully built TH400 for my setup now that's almost new, so I figure it'll last a little while. When it pops it'll get a brake for sure though.

Re: My motivation... (pic inside)

I've got leafs with caltrac bars and 28X14.5 Hoosier quicktime pro's. I figure that should give me pretty good bite.

I dunno...launching it off a brake is pretty damn violent. A friend of mine has a 66 Dodge Dart that runs bottom 10's, and he has a brake in it, and he said he'd much rather launch it off a footbrake then the transbrake, because of how hard it hits. (of course, he has a 5000 stall converter)
Good luck though man...what rear end are you running? 9"? Full Spool?

Re: My motivation... (pic inside)

I'm running a 12 bolt out back, until it pops. Then it'll get a 9" and 4-link.

Moostifer, I'll be running a 3600 or so stall for now, just to get it running and do some engine tuning. After that I'll chase down the stall that seems to work the best for the combo.

Alot of the stuff I'm using for starters isn't "right" per say. But it's all practically new, so I'm going to use it for a while. It should make more power than I know what to do with for a while, so I don't need the perfect combo yet.
