70 SWB body on a 77 K/10 SWB chassis
If anyone out there is interested in info on this swap I just finished with it. Make sure you have at least 4 good backs available or a really high lift or you are in for some long and aggravating days. Not really all that technical.

so are the body mounts in that same places or did you have to make new body mounts?

body mount locations...
66...The rear cab mounts are in the same location but turned to the outside of frame rails and the outer edge of the mount needs to be trimmed off and a new cabmount hole drilled. Use poly '73-'87 1" cab mount pads for all four cab mount points. The front cab mounts I fabricated out of 1/4" flat stock. The top edge of the forward cab mounts need to be 2 3/8" from the top edge of the frame. In order for the bed to line up it needs a 3" lift off of the frame. For the core support I welded a 1/4"x 2" piece of flat stock to the lower edge of the core support and then welded the trimmed off rear cab mount pieces upside down to the 1/4" flat bar directly above each frame rail. Those trimmed off pieces should already have the original hole in them. Now use a set of approximately 3" poly mounts and shim with large washers as necessary. I always re-check and check again on measurements before drilling or welding. I also use as much stainless steel as possible for all the mount bolts/nuts and washers. Bumpers alignment is still in progress as with mounting the 75 blazer tank I have recently acquired. Take care...BadHabit.

Did you have to shorten the frame? also, were there any problens with the steering column lining up of anything like that? I have been thinking about doing this, but I just wish I could see one that has been done.

Neon...Had to cut a little bit of the inner fender to get the steering shaft to the box. After making the cut I was surprised at how well the column lined up with the box, even with the 3" body lift. The hardest part was the core support. Took me 2 days to decide what I wanted to do with that. Yes, the 73 up frames are longer, however, the wheelbases are the same. Frame appears to about 5 inches longer in front. Still working on the front bumper alignment. It needs to go up about 2 1/2" and back about 5".
