Re: transfer swap question
If you want to use a different transmission, you will need to find the correct transfer case adapter. Shouldn't be too hard to find that transfer case. I have only dealt with 4wd manaul transmissions and I know they normally have a different output than the 2wd transmissions. I will let someone else discuss what you would have to do to mate the adapter to your t350.
Oh, welcome to the board!

Re: transfer swap question
The 4spd & auto tranfers cases have different spine counts, so if you want to use the same TC you would also have to change the TC input shaft. ( That maybe tuff to find used & expensive new ) You could also buy an adapter from Advanced Adapters, but this also would be pricey. If you really want to go with an auto it would be best to find a TC that's already set-up for an auto. Make sure it's from a T350 because the spline count is different again for the T400's. ( This info is for a np205 TC ) I don't know about other TC's.

Re: transfer swap question
4x4 TH350 is a 27 spline out put.
4x4 TH400 is 32 spline Some 2wd TH400's are 32 spline as well, but they have different length output shafts. |

Re: transfer swap question
You would need to change the output shaft of the TH350 to a 4x4 version, (shorter), and also change the input of the transfer case, (as mentioned above) to the th350 27 spline size. Manual trans spline count is 10 spline for the trans and transfer case.
You're also going to need a th350 tranfer case adapter, (the part that goes in between the trans and the transfer case). Do you know which transfer case you have? NP205 or NP203? Another thing is your 2wd cab. I THINK you'll need to get a high hump floor pan for it. (Or that might be just for manual trans 4 speed trucks?) There's others here that know more about that than I do. Maybe they'll chime in. Last but not least, Welcome to the board!
