Front Brake Line Question

Can you use 73-87 Chevy front crossmember lines on a 71-72crossmember? If so, are the brake koses to calipers the same? What changes have to be made?

Re: Front Brake Line Question

I believe Matt67350 has done this. I do not think you will have any problem.

Re: Front Brake Line Question

I'll have to look, but off the top of my head they're not the same. The 71/2 lines run along the crossmember, but the 73+ run along that little crossmember below the radiator, with the proportioning valve mounted on the little crossmember. I don't remember the hose setup. If you need I'll try to take some pics tomorrow.

Re: Front Brake Line Question

Yes you can use a 73 up line in a 72 and older crossmember. The hole is in the frame rail already just like the73 up trucks. You can find a rubber gromment to fit in the hole where the old flex line eneded and turned to hard line.

Re: Front Brake Line Question

I agree.

Look at Matt's trucks. He uses 73-87 stuff just like you're asking about. Works great and looks good too. Nice factory bent lines look good.
