Well I just read the opinions on Tuff Country kits, how about Rough Country? They are cheaper and if anything stays true in this world ..."you get what you pay for"..I even saw a complete kit on eBay today for $305.00 plus $65.00 shipping! Anyone have experience with Rough Country?? just lookin to ge the best lift I can without spending an arm and a leg.

Ok here's my opinion Iv'e used two rough country lifts in the past one on my 72 blazer 4",and one on my 90 burb 4",and hopefully one on my 70 burb,and yes it will probably be a rough country lift,Iv'e not experienced any other lifts so i can only tell you about rough country.these were also springs up front and blocks in rear.can't beat em for the price.I will definitely use them again.Remember just my 0.2 cents worth.Randy

I have some 4" 67-72 rough country springs sitting my garage now, I'll sell for $80 plus shipping. This is two front springs only w/ bushings. I replaced them with Tuff Country springs. The rough country springs have a high spring rate, second only to Rancho springs. The rough country spring rate is even higher than the tuff country heavy duty front springs.

Thanks for the input, but I sure don't want a rough riding bouncer! Sounds like these springs are rough riding for sure. So what is the best riding lift kit out there?? I think I might re-think the go-cheap and not sacrifice my ride.

Rough Country are exactly what they say "ROUGH". I got the 4" front and rear springs and there is not much flex to them at all. If you want a very good suspension kit, look at Superlift.

I have 6" Rough Country lifts on both my 85' truck and my 91' Burb. I have not had any problem with either of them. IMO I would buy another if I need one from them again. The only thing that I did notice is that the Rough Country sits about an inch higher than it is supose to be. the 6" actually sits aboout 7".

Several years ago I installed a set of 2 1/2" Skyjacker Softride springs to replace my sagging fronts. I have add-a-leafs in the rear, so I didn't use the aluminum rear blocks. The springs and hardware are top quality, ride smooth, poly bushings and no squeaks or groans, and like I said I've had 'em on for several years and counting...

EDIT: fwiw, the best price I found (in 1997) was at Willard's Garage (aka Willard's Off Road Warehouse) in Billings, Montana. You can Google them for more info; they also (in 1997) had a toll free #; dunno if it's still good, but it was 800-776-8292.

I had a Rough Country lift on my K5 and after about 2 months I just about needed a liver transplant after all the bouncing and jarring around. I switchd to Tuff Country and couldn't be happier.

I got Rough Country "softride" (BAHAHAHAHA!!!!) 4" lift in my big block 72.
If you're gonna buy Rough country, save yourself some more cash and just weld a 6 in piece of steel tubing to the frame and the front axle. The ride will be about the same.

I'm going Tough Country or Superlift, (if they make springs for a 72?), as soon as cash allows.

Question; Does anybody know if the 73-87 front springs are the same measurement from the front spring eye to the axle locating dowel? (Front half of the spring).

The Rough Country does sit higher and just put on 35" boggers and still have good clearance from jumping from 33"'s. One thing noted is that when the truck was on the lift, the springs did not even move an inch so that tells you how stiff they are.

why get a rough country when you can get a superlift softride for the same price???
