leaky brakes
I jumped in my 70 4x4 this morning, and while trying to stop at the end of the driveway, noticed the pedal goes about twice as far to the ground as it normally does, the stopping power also seems to be lessened a bit....I didn't check the fluid level, as it was -2 this morning, but wanted to check before I got home to see if I likely have a leak (and where I would commonly start to look for this leak), or if the pedal feel is decreased because of the extreme cold?

Re: leaky brakes
It is either leaking some where or your master cylinder is bad. look around hose fittings at wheels and bleeder screws and things like this also follow the lines from wheels back to master cylinder. If you find no leaks it is more than likely the the MC.

Re: leaky brakes
thats pretty much what I figured, just wondering if there was something i should specifically be on the look out for (wheel cylinders that leak below a certain temp or something).
Thanks

Re: leaky brakes
dang it! This will be the second master cylinder I have replaced in as many months (different vehicle though)..... I will have to give it a complete look over in the next couple of days....need a day off before I can make that happen though!
