Just wonder what kind of rear axle on my -57.

And this bumper must come from a bigger truck?

Not sure on the axle, but that tailgate sure is making me jealous !

thats an Eaton 10 bolt. hard to find parts for, some had No-Spin diffs in them. Got replaced by the 14 bolt in '73. Stong axle but the shafts only have 17 splines making them the weak point.

Wouldnt that be the same rear as in the trucks up to 1972.
a ho5_something and a ho72? Does it have a drop out nodular front section?
If so it is the GM corporate-Eaton. Uasually come with a low gear (4.57s), 3.90s and down (higher number) are available for them.
It has a 14 bolt 10" ring gear and is a tough rear.
If thats a tag I see on the right bolt on the back cover that was a stock "no-spin" (locker) rear.
That is also a full floater version (bolts on outer bearing cover), As apposed to the semi floater version with the outer bearing pressed onto the axle.
They came in both coil and leaf spring versions.

If it's from a 1-ton truck it will either have 4:56 or 5:13 gears in it. No semi floaters were ever made in an eaton 10 bolt. yes they are the same rear as up to '72 trucks.

Yea, they also used these alot in the 3/4 ton trucks.
I do think the width is different from the Task Force trucks from the later years too.
The 4:56 was not available in this rear, They were 4.57s...
