I don't really need it, i bought a new repro. but i just couldn't pass it up,i was thinking of robbing the center latch and then maybe getting rid of it.i just can't beleive theres no dents in it after all these years.

I think I would keep the stock one and get rid of the replacement one. I have heard way too amny bad things about the replacement ones.

You could always hang it up as a display in your basement rec room...like one member did. I can't remember the screen name, but he had 7 or so mint gates hanging up as art. (???)

No offense but are you completely insane? Those original gates are better than any other sheetmetal and for that matter are 10 times the quality of any repop crap you can buy expensive or not. Leave that gate complete and put it on your truck and sell the repo, you are getting a way better tailgate that way.

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE HERE THAT SAYS USE THE ORIGINAL!!!

I have a friend here locally that bought the repr one, he's not a monster but then again he's not small either, but he jumped in the back one day and the damn tailgate bent. REAL GARBAGE...

USE THE ORIGINAL and sell the repro. Even if you have to paint the tailgate, you'll be much happier in the longrun.

My vote is to keep the original, and change the color on something to make it all match....blue on the truck if you like the tailgate, or paint it to match the truck.

For those of us who have tailgates that have been stepped on too many times while handling a load that was too heavy, we can only wish to find one ourselves. No straightening them out, when they've been over-torqued in a previous life.

thanks for all the good ideas, it was a good find i had to do a brake job on my boss's dump truck pup trailer,and change the carrier bearing in the truck i drive in exchange for the gate about 7 hrs work,

the tailgate i have is a smooth one,thats on the truck mild custom lowered and mild changes.it deffinatly isn't going to haul anything, its a short box.and i purchased it from pickmup and it is a nice gate i don't know the manufacturer but it is a high qulity gate heavy like the origanal.all i need is the mint latch in it. i 'm in need of a set of mint origanal doors or a set of repro.

THROW THE REPO AWAY AND USE THAT ONE, YOU WON'T BE SORRY. I had a repo gate and the 1st time I sat a bare BB on it it BENT.
