Disc Brake Question???????
Last night I tried to bleed my all new brake system. The master cylinder, lines, pads, shoes, calipers are all new. Here is the question, Do you have to bleed the master cylinder somehow? I put brake fluid in and pumped the brakes about 1000 times but the fluid never went into the lines. I tried opening up a couple bleeder valves but the fluid would still not come thru the line?? Does the truck have to be running to get vaccuum to the booster??
Thanks for any help you may be able to give. Justin

You can bleed the master cylinder at the lines on it. I always bench bleed it by pumping it by hand before I install it. You might want to place a rag around the area to help keep from getting fluid all over your engine compartment.

Try the directions that came with the mc. I did that once and it worked!hehe
Seriously, I bet your new mc came with a couple of plastic fittings and two pieces of hose. If not you can buy them or make them out of your old brake lines. Disconect the lines at the mc and put these in. Stick the ends in the res with fluid in it. "SLOWLY" work the brake pedal untill there are no bubbles comming out. Can send pics if you need.

BLEEDING BRAKES?
Justin, the best way to bleed the master cyl. is to bench bleed it. i had the same problem when putting mine on. at first i didnt get good flow. but after putting it on the vice and bench bleeding it after 100 pumps or so it started really flowing hard and consistent. at first it was real soft and slow but it got better after this . i thought my master cyl. was bad, but it wasnt the problem though. hope this info. helps . good luck, DAN
